Yasamin is a PhD student in Cultural, Literary and Linguistic Studies at the University of Miami, Florida, the U.S, where she studies French and Italian dramatic literatures of the 20th century and teaches both languages.
Exploring the intersections of performance and media from a sociolinguistic point of view, her research interests include social media, pop culture, new media studies, digital humanities, digital performance and theatre studies.
She is the co-founder of Instasociety and a fellow of Digital Humanities at University of Miami for summer 2021. She currently works at the Center for the Humanities at University of Miami as a UGrow fellow in 2021-2022 A.Y.
She often writes about community and the notion of nostalgia, and also creates, explores, and theorizes Instapoetry among Iranian users of Instagram and aims to introduce it to the Persian literary community.
She is a social media scholar, blogger, interview host and a part-time actor. She has lived and worked as an artist in Iran, Italy, Germany, France and she is currently based in the United States. As a polyglot, she fluently speaks English, French, Italian and Persian and she’s on her Miamian journey to learn Spanish.
